SCGC Strings

SCGC Strings

I’m a big fan of Santa Cruz Guitar Company. Richard Hoover and everyone at SCGC do an amazing job at custom building Acoustic Guitars. They build them like Martin Guitars used to in the Golden Age……with a little help from some CNC machines of course. I would highly recommend a factory tour anytime you are near Santa Cruz. The tour is very informative and Richard is a really fantastic and knowledgeable individual.

SCGC has just come out with some new Guitar strings. A really interesting concept here, “Gauge means nothing, Tension means everything”. They’ve developed a set of Parabolic Tension Guitar strings. The theory is the tension of the strings control the EQ, or tone, of the individual Guitar strings. Richard does not use marketing hype to promote his products. He researches the science behind what makes great Acoustic Guitar tone. You can read more about these strings on the SCGC website. I’m looking forward to trying out a few sets of these myself.
