Here is an interesting and a bit sad story about Pete Howlett and the Ukuleles he builds. Pete is located in the UK and his Ukuleles are highly sought after. He was recently diagnosed with Parkinson’s disease which means he will no longer be able to build the instrument he loves. Pete early on decided to make 1000 Ukuleles total and is currently working on his final 300. His plan was to finish these over the next 10 years but he now has to speed up that process to 3 years (with the help of another Luthier). I can’t imagine how it would feel to know that soon you will not be able to create these beautiful instruments that have been you life’s work.
